non dairy milkshake recipe

Mmmmm… I love a sweet, creamy milkshake. And I bet you do, too!

Since I eat a plant-based diet, I decided to come up with my own non-dairy versions of my favorite milkshakes - and, wow, are they delicious!

Today, there is such a wide and delicious variety of non-dairy milks available. The most popular are almond milk, soy milk, and coconut milk. Also available are cashew, hazelnut, and even hemp milk!

When shopping for non-dairy milk, make sure you take a good look at the list of ingredients, because these milks can be loaded with sugar. So always choose one without added sugar.

Now you’re probably wondering what my secret sweet ingredient is...

Dates!

Dates are easily digested, allowing your body to make full use of their goodness. They’re also especially rich in vitamins B6, A, and K, which help support strong bone development and eye health. Dates also enhance intestinal health due to their high fiber content.

Speaking of strong, healthy bones, you may be surprised to know that cow’s milk is not the purest source of calcium for your body. Calcium is available in more readily digestible forms in foods such as kale and broccoli.

Here are 3 different flavors of homemade nut milk that I’m sure you’ll enjoy:

  1. Date Milk- This milk is a creamy, heavenly treat - great cold or warm.

-4 cups of non-dairy, unsweetened milk of your choice

-3 dates

-pinch of sea salt

-blend on high for 30 seconds

  1. Chocolate Milk - This non-dairy delight tastes just like a classic chocolate milkshake!

-4 cups of non-dairy, unsweetened milk of your choice

-6-8 dates (start with 6 and add until you reach desired sweetness)

-¼ cup raw unsweetened Cacao powder

-1 tsp. cinnamon

-pinch sea salt

-blend on high for 30 seconds

  1. Strawberry Milk - You’ll love this thick, gorgeous pink milkshake!

-4 cups of non-dairy, unsweetened milk of your choice

-2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries (organic preferable)

-3 dates

-pinch sea salt

-blend on high for 30 seconds

Store your fresh, homemade milkshake in a glass container in the refrigerator.

Enjoy!
